Question: Since my hubby has a severe TBI that basically has created AADS (aquired Attention Deficit Syndrome) and I have one of the MOST severe cases of ADHD ever diagnosed back when it was called MBD (which BTW was only 30 or so years ago) In addition the M is for Minimal not Minimum. Also Acquired Brain Injury seems redundant since you have to acquire an injury. Mild TBI is not the only cause of AADS Severe closed head trauma can also cause it. A Severe Closed Head Trauma can cause a brain injury that removes a person's executive function yet their cognitive abilities remain. why do you feel this is important on ASAD? you just make canned statements. you must have a point or an agenda.
Answer: The term ABI (Acquired Brain Injury) is one of the terms used by the Brain Injury Association; the Brain Injury Association also uses the term TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). Sounds like you hae good information but why then are you deprecating this women? Course I didn't see her thread - maybe she was awlfulI just came here to say there is no such thing as a mild brain injury when it concerns my spongiform. And I find you mugging this baby. What is it anyway? Is this the Hyperactive type ADD'ers ? too am pissed at the stupidity - and sometimes flame my shrinks. Problem with this strategy is I am expecting the person to read past all the attack to find within there the jewel of information that I left them. As a result I look foolish: attempting to teach in this fashion. I do it to, but then isn't this really just an impulsive style? In that regard I think it is especially important that we demonstrate good examples for our colleages. At the same time a more even approach can be quick: eg. "Although TBI mimics ADD and is sometimes a precursor to ADD your attribution that all ADD is caused by TBI is suspect. It probably doesn't follow. Do you beleive otherwise? Why?"
