anoxic recovery

Question:
I am looking to connect with someone who has or has been through anoxic brain injury. I'm interested in talking about what to expect, what to look forward to, outcomes of similiar patients, etc. My 41 yr old husband is recovering from cardiac arrest (flat lines for 90 minutes, received continual CPR/but resulted in anoxic brain damage), he is 1.5 yrs post.......any comments?

Answer: My wife Peggy suffered an anoxic brain injury (as a result of congestive heart failure) 14 months ago. Complicating the injury is a stroke she suffered five years ago from which she never fully recovered. She is doing well considering she was not expected to survive or regain consciousness. She is unable to walk, but is able to feed herself, speak (with difficulty), and has limited use of her right arm and hand. She suffers from severe myoclonus (tremors) which are partially controlled by antiseizure medication, depression, and anxiety attacks. There are also several others on the list who have suffered anoxia recovery .
