Question: I have a 3 yrs old girl and a little 1 yr old boy that I'm still nursing. my gin/obyn told me that bc of it; my body doesn't behave as usual in regards to sex. Honest is I don't feel any excitement at all, my husband's pressure is driving me crazy, so much that I'm thinking in getting separated. but he really pushes, as much as all day long every 10 minutes or so (he doesn't work, since he has a disability for an accident he had 18 years ago with brain injury, that I think he is getting worse and forgetting things easily). My other problem is that bc of his insistence, I'm feeling sick about him, not just that I don't have a physical need; I am feeling an emotional rejection towards him. He doesn't understand he is pushing, I think bc of his mental problem but he is. In the other hand I feel guilty of not just giving him what he wants, which I've done it before countless times, but when I've tried I feel pain and besides, feels like a big sacrifice not worthed to do. I'm feeling down bc I don't want to get divorced, but when I look at my life objectively, I don't think this situation is getting any better.Any helps?
Answer: When the choice was made to 'start making babies' no one really thinks or hopes or wants for some things to happen. Some don't expect that they will have a hard pregnancy. Some don't plan for PPD. No one really sits around hoping that along with a baby, hormones will go crazy and they will find their sex life has a huge road block. It's not always demands of an infant, toddler, or child. Sometimes it can be hormones. Something that is totally out of a person's hands to deal with on their very own, and medication is not always possible, especially with a nursling (I know this from experience) There are some medications, if needed, that can be basically safe to use while nursing, but just because it's "safe" doesn't always mean it's the best choice or road to go. "Safe", I've found, only means that it will have little or no affect directly on a nursling. The effect a 'safe for breastfeeding' medication often has the chance of suppressed milk supply.
