Question: My husband has traumatic brain injury...?My husband was in 5 IED blasts in Iraq over the 6 months that he was there. The very last one was the worst one. He was unconscious for a few minutes and he broke a rib and now has back pain. Because of the explosions he now has TBI. It is not severe, but mild to moderate. He now has to go see neurologists and nurse case managers and do all this other stuff. This is also the reason why they are not sending him back to Iraq. He would have had another 6-9 months. My question is, will having this type of injury prevent him from working in law enforcement? Or rather, would he be automatically disqualified from being able to be hired as a police officer in the future?
Answer: think the most important prerequisite is getting out of the military with an Honorable Discharge and accept nothing less. People can recover from these type of injuries but i takes time so don't give up hope. I'm very sorry to hear about this and wish you both all the best
