Does anyone have information of head injury support groups in the Houston, Texas area for survivors and their families? Someone gave me the number for Barbara Loper (head injury association of Houston) but it was disconnected. I'm going there on May for 4 weeks and I'll need all the help I can get.

Answer: I can't find anything in Houston but maybe Mary Ellen Young can help. She's President of the Brain Injury Association of Texas, in Austin or you can check with the Center for Neuroskills and Dallas Rehab Institute for referrals in the Dallas area. Also The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) in Houston has 2 physiatrists who specialize in brain injury: Dr. Stuart Yablon and Dr. Cindy Ivanhoe. We also have several excellent neuropsychologists on both the research and clinical staff.
