Brainscan and Brain Damage

Question:
Brain damage, on the other hand, I thought was quite punchy and entertaining--it's my favorite Henenlotter film, actually. Saw that on the big screen, too--and got to enjoy the uncut version on video later. But the TV print? Couldn't tell you--so, since you taped them, why not tell us?

Answer: Well not here in the UK they don't (at least the films I've bothered to watch have been uncut). Galaxy of Terror was one which springs to mind (including the worm-rape which was cut from all UK video versions of the movie). Brain Damage was definitely uncut - I compared it to a mates copy from the recent unrated DVD release, and all the gore was there....

I've never seen brainscan, but Brain Damage is one movie you'll really enjoy. Totally cheesy, gory fun from beginning to end with one of the best main villains(?) in recent memory (although a little too reminiscent of a turd for my liking...you'll see what I mean...). It's basically a film about addiction from the guy who made 'Basket Case' & 'Frankenhooker'. If you liked those sleaze epics, you'll dig this one. A bonus is that this is the uncut version of the movie too, so you get to see the famed 'fellatio' & 'ear pulling' scenes...

Brain Damage" is definitely the best thing I've seen from Henenlotter and hugely underrated. Yeah, it's funny as Hell in parts, but it has a really dark intensity to it and a genuine atmosphere of sleaze and filth... I thought it was a clever little metaphor and had it's fair share of powerful moments in amongst the brain-splattering gore and the bizarre humour of 'Aylmer'.
