Brain Damage

Question:
I know several people with diabetes -- one is a pretty close friend -- who used to drink heavily (stomachs pumped in ER's, etc.) until they came to terms with their disease & it's implications as well as their alcohol abuse. Fortunately at least my friend is okay now & dealing with his situation by managing the diabetes & no more booze. He was lucky not to have suffered any brain damage from his past behavior.

Have you already explored any alternative methods of recovery from such brain injury? If so, what have you looked into? And what have they tried with you within the traditional treatment modes?

Answer: While the treatment is still controversial, HBOT is being tried by many people for treatment for CP and other brain injuries.

There have been two studies that I am aware of wrt HBOT. One showed that it was ineffective for treating MS, and the other showed that the effects were similar for oxygen and similarly pressurized room air. Out of curiosity, what are the symptoms you have that let you know that you have hypoxic brain damage, and how long ago was the event?

The DHSS have said there is nothing more they can do so they provide me with someone to make meals for me when my wife is out at work So I suppose I am clutching at straws, but I find it hard to believe that there is not something that will help towards a little regeneration in brain cell activity demon.co.uk...
